THE WALL STREET JOURNAL - One of the U.S.'s largest home builders, is in talks with the China Development Bank for approximately $1.7 billion in capital. If completed, the deal would reflect a changing dynamic between the U.S. and Chinese economies, as a giant American home building company turns to China for financing a partially public funded project. Funding from the Communist Chinese has strings attached and is typically conditional upon Chinese developers and contractors being used to build the projects they finance. And in order to keep costs down, many of the skilled workers will be brought from China to build houses in the U.S. Meanwhile American tradesmen and their families are being thrown out of their own homes while trying to feed families on unemployment compensation.
