The airstrike makes Somalia at least the sixth country where the United States is using drone aircraft to conduct lethal attacks joining Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Iraq and Yemen. And it comes as the CIA is expected to begin flying armed drones over Yemen. The skies over at least six countries are bombed by robotic aircraft, operated by the U.S. military or the CIA, that fire missiles to carry out targeted assassinations. Obama's drones kill many civilians – no one knows how many – and debate rages, in Pakistan and abroad, about whether they ultimately quell militancy or encourage it. Drone missile attacks near to Pakistan's Afghan border have become an everyday occurrence since Obama took power. Obama has signed off on over 125 drone strikes – twice the number authorised by George Bush during his presidency. Manufacturers are scrambling to keep up with demand from the CIA.
