Police Beat And Taser 'Gentle' Mentally-ill Homeless Man To Death

A shocking video has been released showing police officers tasering and beating a homeless man to death who they claim was resisting arrest. Though the video is not clear, eye witnesses say the homeless man - Kelly Thomas, 37 - was unable to put up any resistance and was lying on the ground on his front when the attack took place on July 5. His screams and cries for his father can be heard amid the tasering noises. Eye witnesses at the scene claim the six officers tasered him five times and beat him beyond recognition, which the disturbing photo of him in hospital shows. Mark Turgeon, who was there, said: 'They kept beating him and tasering him. I could hear zapping, and he wasn't even moving. 'He had one arm in front of him like this, he wasn't resisting. And they kept telling him, "He's resisting, quit resisting", and he wasn't resisting.' Many members of the Fullerton community described Thomas as a passive, peaceful person. 'The only thing we have left of our son is the blood in the gutter, that's all we have left.' On the website Fullerton Stories, several people have shared their experiences interacting with Thomas, describing him as 'very quiet and polite', 'gentle and childlike', 'sweet', and 'never a threat'.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation confirmed that it will independently investigate the death of Kelly Thomas – a homeless, schizophrenic man who was taken off life support July 10 after his arrest five days earlier by Fullerton Police, according to Orange County Supervisor Shawn Nelson.Witness Mark Turgeon says he saw the "out of control" beating from about 25 feet away. He said two officers were on top of Thomas, then two others came and shot him with an electronic stun gun. Two more officers showed up and started beating him with a flashlight, Turgeon said. "He wasn't moving anymore," Turgeon said. "He wasn't resisting. He was face down and they were beating him on the back of the head." During the scuffle, Kelly Thomas suffered head and neck injuries and was taken to UCI.Kelly Thomas’ father, said he again met with Bruce Praet – an attorney representing the CIty of Fullerton  – and that Praet offered him a $1 million out-of-court settlement, which he did not accept. READ ENTIRE ARTICLE

Police 'Stripped Unarmed Man Naked, Kicked, Beat And Tasered Him As He Lay Screaming In The Snow'
According to his civil lawsuit, the officers then stunned him multiple times with a Taser gun and sprayed him over and over again with pepper spray. The full ordeal allegedly lasted for ten minutes. On the clip released by Ring's lawyer, he can be seen lying on the ground with two officers on top of him while two more appear to take turns kicking and punching him. As he screams and writhes in pain, another repeatedly barks: 'Roll over on your belly!'. Later on in the attack, another officer screams: 'If he even flinches, shoot his ass.' Darrin Ring, 34, was left with four broken ribs and a punctured lung after the brutal attack in Waverly, Tennessee, which was recorded by a dashboard camera in one of the police cars.He spent five months in jail because he couldn't afford to post bond, but earlier this month public-appointed attorney Jake Lockert discovered the video and called for the charges to be dismissed, branding them an attempt by the officers to 'cover up their own criminal conduct' On July 11, the district attorney dropped all the charges and released Ring. At first Chris Davis, the Humphreys County sheriff, defended his deputies, and described the tape as a 'two-dimensional depiction' of the incident. But he changed his mind when the FBI began investigating, shortly after the video became public. Humphreys County sheriff's deputies Tim Hedge, James McCord and Benjie Lee, along with Waverly Police Department officer Joe Parnell, have all now been placed on leave.
