Fingerprinting Policy and Disclosure Statement
It is the policy of Extra Space Storage to require each of its prospective tenants to provide a fingerprint sample as a condition of tenancy.
The sole purpose of this policy is to help provide a safe and secure environment for all of our tenants.
Extra Space Storage takes reasonable precautions to ensure that your privacy is protected and keeps all fingerprint samples in a secure place.
Upon voluntary or involuntary termination of your tenancy, your fingerprint sample will be returned to you upon request.

"This corporation demands that you submit to fingerprinting! unbelievable! they say it is to protect you from "the bad guys"! to me in demanding this they are the bad guys. what an invasion of privacy. what percentage of the population is criminal? I would guess maybe 1%; so at Extra Space they are penalizing the other 99% because they are paranoid about the 1%; or, maybe they just want to sell more of your personal info. I refused to comply."

I am an existing customer, with the unit in my wife's name. For a second unit, they wanted me to fill out an application (fine!), but they wanted to fingerprint me (no way!). It's their policy! No way I am letting some random business have my fingerprints. When I told them no, they got really belligerent and rude. I walked out of there and am looking at other places now. I asked at UHAUL and another local place and they don't fingerprint. It is not worth the extra money or the invasion of privacy and aggravation."
